Relief, monoprint, handmade paper, collage, and sewing
In 2005, my art practice in printmaking & papermaking focused on producing series’ of related works (rather than producing multiples as editions). These mixed media prints were developed in two series' respectively called Black and Blue. I referenced domestic arts and labor through use of hand papermaking techniques such as dying, fibre processing & cooking, as well as materials and processes typically associated with craft. Visual cues such as quilting, pattern design, découpage, and collage allude to an historical idea of "women's work” as the conceptual basis for both series'.
